What is a good song choice for a Grandfather/G-Daughter first wedding dance?
February 28, 2010
I am getting married in April. I do not have a good relationship with my father, so my Grandfather is giving me away. I want to have the traditional first "father/daughter" dance, but with my grandfather, but I am having a hard time picking one. Any suggestions???
A song your grandfather might appreciate:
Turn Around………..by The Brothers Four
With opening lines like "Where are you going, my little one…little one…" and closing lines like "…turn around and you’re a young wife, with babes of your own." it might be very apropos.
Good luck though…and congratulations!!

Wind Beneath My Wings, while not a romantic wedding song, would be a fitting tribute to your wonderful grandfather.

I recently attended a wedding where the bride danced with her father to a song sung by Anne Murray, called You Needed Me. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. It was absolutely beautiful! This song would be great as your special song for you and your grandfather as well. Look up the lyrics on the internet, the song is gorgeous! Congrats on your marriage!

Or if your grandfather raised you and was like a father to you then maybe "i loved her first" by heartland or butterfly kisses,
Wind beneath my wings,
Hope these help!

"Sunrise Sunset" from Fiddler on the Roof is a beautiful song that is a tradition for many brides. I had it sung by a soloist before the ceremony, but it would be a perfect tempo and melody for a first slow dance with Grandpa without the singing.
