“Dorood bar IRAN va …
“Dorood bar IRAN va Irani”,
Iranians have always referred to their homeland as “Iran”. This is obvious in mass of Iranian literature such as Ferdosi’s masterwork the magnificent “Shahnameh”, the pahlavi sources, and so forth.
However, Iran was referred to as Persia in the west and in most non-Iranian text such as the bible. The terms Iran and Persia refer to the same noble nation and people.
“Payandeh IRAN!”

Balkh is the …
Balkh is the persian pronounciation of the older (Pashto) word Bakht
Lur is a newer word. Bakht-iar is the original word hence the individuals refer to themselves as. There are also Bakhtiari in Afghanistan and in Pakistan and they speak Bakhto or Pakhto at home.
I agree that all these people are iranian people.

Bactaria= BaLKH
…
Bactaria= BaLKH
Bakht’”yaar=Lur people.
Pronunciation and meaning of these words are completely different. I believe Bakhtiaris have more in common with Kurds & Iranian Persian. None the less we are all the same…

Bakhtiaris are …
Bakhtiaris are actually Pashtoons. Bactrian Bakhtiari = Pakhtiari = Pakhto = Pakhtoon
Pakhtiar, Pakhtara = Bactria
The Bakhtiari of Iran are bactrians that migrated westward.

Of course that …
Of course that bakhtiaris & lors are not persians; people saying they are just don’t have a precise sense of iranic peoples & cultures, that’s it. In fact “persian” is now over-used; example: it’s even used for khorassanis who are descendants of the parths

well ok, i agree …
well ok, i agree kurds do have an iranic race. its right, but we are not persian
and i dont like it the way the islamic republic and rezah shah tries to prevent people speaking kurdish and to be persified.
and you should not call yourself persian too, you are iranian but not persian.
because you are hafl bakhtiari and half from hamedan, which are both MEDIAN
you should say that youi are a kurd from iran
By KurdishPride952 on Jul 9, 2010
You should know …
You should know that “persians” never called themselves persian until the 20th century, before that they just knew themselves and the people around them as “Irani.” It was the west that called iran “persia” and iranians (all, even kurds, turks, and other tribes of iran) as “persian,” which i think was and is wrong. We just knew ourselves (and the Bakhtiyari still know themselves) as “Irani,” no matter what tribe or il we were from, and i think thats how it should be again.
By arashzlord on Jul 9, 2010
exactly, it was …
exactly, it was rezah shah who has persified you people.
and by the way, if those persians from hamedan and northern iran know that they are medians, why do you call their selves persian?? and not kurd??
median means kurds
the persians were in the south of iran, most of northern iran is kurdish median, the azeris are medians too who have been turkified.
By KurdishPride952 on Jul 9, 2010
hmmm…..that is …
hmmm…..that is interesting, i have to go and see what the bakhtiari community thinks about this, far as I know we are neither persian or kurd, but we like to call ourselves persian (most of us). this is the first time i have ever heard a bakhtiari call himself a kurd ( im not doubting you, just saying ive never heard it before). as far as being oppressed, the only time i know that bakhtiaris were oppressed was by reza shah who tried to destroy the bakhtiari ( by the way reza shah was gilaki).
By arashzlord on Jul 9, 2010
That is true, …
That is true, hamedan was in ancient times Ecbatana, the ancient capital of the medes. in fact we can say that most of the “persians”of Iran are actually of median-parthian descent. The true descendants of Pars are the Shirazi, and maybe isfahani. The reason that persians are called persians is because of the language that they all speak (which is actually a parthian dialect, not a true persian dialect). In fact Kurds have a more similar language to ancient persian and mede than modern persian.
By arashzlord on Jul 9, 2010
i dont have …
i dont have anything against persian, i love the persians much more than turks or arabs
persian people are more acceptable than them, but i dont like it when they say lors and bakhtiaris are persian
