Strangest 1st Dance Wedding Songs?

March 9, 2010

I’m getting married next year and we are having "November Rain" by Guns N Roses as our first dance song.

The mother in law isn’t happy about it. "So!"

Whats the strangest, but most excellent 1st wedding dance you’ve heard.

My friend had ‘Bring your Daughter to the Slaughter’ i think it’s by Iron Maiden. The looks on the new wife’s parents faces were a picture!

  5. Hubby and I tied the knot last year. We had ‘Don’t wanna miss a thing’ by Aerosmith. The whole party was in tears, as I nearly lost him through a serious accident two and a half years ago, so the words had true meaning.

you know what…… it’s your wedding sweetie. Tough if the mother in law doesn’t like it. You both have what you want and enjoy your special day. All the Best for the future to you both. Brightest Blessings

  7. Im getting married soon and my future mother in law wants us to dance to "Making memories of us" by Keith Urban but I dont like country. She insists its a beautiful song and Im sure it is but like I told my fiancee, its our song and our memory and I dont wanna dance to a song I dont like. We are doing More than Words – Extreme. That song has meaning to both of us. Its your wedding do as you please.

As far as a weird wedding song, I once saw someone do Lets get Married by Jagged Edge THE REMIX!!!

  10. a friend of mine met her now husband at a germanfest doing the chicken dance. they thought it was fitting to be their first dance song at their wedding also. it was definitely unique. everyone at the reception got to join in too and have a good laugh!

outside of the laughable one, recently i went to a couple weddings where one couple danced to kenny chesney’s "don’t blink". i don’t think there was a dry eye in the place! the other danced to van morrison’s "into the mystic". another great wedding song!

  13. Many songs have beautiful melodies, but listen to the lyrics, they are not good wedding songs! Such as:

Unchained Melody, it is about being apart, not together.
Keep On Lovin’ You by REO Speedwagon, it is about a girl cheating on a guy!
I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston or Dolly Parton, it is a breakup song.

All, I have seen used in weddings. But if a song means a lot to you, I think that overrides the song itself. I wouldn’t go so far as to say tell a parent to ’shove it’ or something rude, just explain your feelings.

  14. It should be what you and your fiance want it to be.

My wedding song was "A Moment Like This", but my brother’s was "Seasons Of Love" which may be a strange wedding song, but my oldest sister’s was "S8R Boi" by Avril Lavine because it was kind of the story of their relationship. My BIL had liked a girl in HS, she had liked him back, but never wanted to go out with him, so he met my sister, they fell inlove, my brother opened up his own resturaunt and the girl he liked ended up getting pregnat at 17 and having a crappy life while my sister and BIL lived happily ever after.
